Have you been trying fruitlessly to change a habit such as smoking or overeating?
Are you feeling discouraged and pessimistic about you ability to make concrete changes in your life?
Then perhaps it’s time to try another approach: Hypnosis!
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of physical and mental relaxation. In this relaxed state the subconscious mind is very responsive to positive and beneficial messages.
How Does It Work?
The conscious mind contains our intellect and short-term memory. It uses the language of logic and reason. It also holds the "critical factor" which tells us we can't or shouldn't do something, and thus contains all of our learned limitations.
The subconscious mind, on the other hand, contains our imagination, intuition, and creative power. It is also the seat of our emotions, our habits, and our long-term memory. The language of the subconscious is imagery and metaphor.
We often identify with our rational, conscious minds, and define reality only by what we can explain with the intellect. However, the conscious mind is much like an island floating on the vast sea of our subconscious. It is a small part of who we are. When we become aware of the incredible power and abilities of our subconscious, we tap into a very rich and powerful ally in our pursuit of health and happiness.
In hypnosis the physical body, and thus the conscious mind, is guided into a wonderful state of relaxation. The critical factor of the conscious mind is bypassed, the imagination soars, and any number of wonderful things can happen. In this altered state we are capable of intense healing, learning, growth, and change.
Through the use of positive affirmations and visualizations you create in your mind the goals you wish to achieve in your waking reality. Your imagination becomes a powerful ally for creating the life you dream of.
"We are what we think.
All that we are arises with our thoughts.
With our thoughts, we make our world."
Buddah
What does hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis feels like that place between waking and sleeping. You will feel very relaxed. Your breathing slow down. Your limbs might feel heavy, or light and tingly, almost numb. Sounds will fade in and out, and your sense of time may
be distorted.
Will I lose control? Become unconscious? Do things against my beliefs?
You will do anything you don’t want to do or that is contrary to your belief system. Suggestions will be given that you only accept statements that are appropriate and for your highest good. You will always be in control, because all hypnosis is self-hypnosis, and you must be a willing and active participant.
Most people go into a light to medium trance, remembering 50% to 90% of what they hear during the hypnosis session. About 10% of the population is somnambulistic. They go into a very deep trance, and remember little. You do not have to go into a deep trance for hypnosis to be effective.
Can I be hypnotized?
Almost anyone who wants to be hypnotized and has the ability to concentrate for short periods of time can be hypnotized.
You have a great ally in your subconscious mind. Use it. Harness the incredible power of your mind. End the struggle once and for all. And achieve the success you have been dreaming of.
