Weight Loss: Our approach to weight loss is holistic, addressing not only nutrition and exercise, but emotional eating as well. We provide reliable information, motivation, and support. We also employ mind/body techniques such as hypnosis and Emotional Freedom Technique, which help to address the negative feelings and beliefs which often sabotage our weight loss efforts.

Personal Training: Our aim is to help middle-aged and senior women discover and meet their fitness goals, co-creating a balanced program which takes into account their individualized needs, interests, objectives and possible physical restrictions, while encouraging and motivating them to reach their personal best. We are committed to assisting the mature woman in achieving the benefits of optimal health and in helping her make exercise a way of life.

Smoking Cessation: Smoking is a dangerous addiction that kills thousands of people every year, yet is a notoriously difficult habit to relinquish. However, by combining two powerful methods, hypnosis and Emotional Freedom Technique, you can acquire the ability to quit smoking and remain smoke-free forever.

WEIGHT LOSS

A successful weight loss program requires an approach that takes the whole person into account. It provides the following:

· Current, intelligent, and appropriate nutritional information
· A suitable exercise program geared toward your individual needs, goals, experience, and health history.
· An exploration of the emotional reasons for overeating, and a way to heal those emotions
· An examination of the hidden beliefs that sabotage your weight loss efforts, and a method for changing those beliefs
· An individual approach that takes into account one’s unique personality, physiology, and history.
· An approach that is gentle, compassionate, and nonjudgmental.


This describes the TLC Wellness holistic approach to weight loss.


What is holistic weight loss?
Holistic weight loss is a three-prong approach to losing weight that emphasizes a sensible and suitable nutrition plan, an exercise program that is safe, appropriate and effective, and powerful methods for neutralizing the negative emotions and beliefs that sabotage your best efforts at losing weight-Emotional Freedom Technique and Hypnosis.

What makes this program different from other weight loss programs?
Most weight loss plans focus on either the physical or the emotional aspects of losing weight. This program emphasizes both, underscoring the importance of the mind/body connection. Successful and permanent weight loss cannot be realized without attending to nutrition, exercise, and emotional eating, and this program does exactly that.

I’ve lost weight before on other programs, but I always put it back. Will this happen again?
The most common reason for putting weight back on is lack of attention to the root causes of overeating. These are almost always emotional in nature. If you eat because you are stressed out, frustrated, lonely or bored, and you haven’t found a way to defuse these feelings, then sooner or later you will return to your old eating habits. Until you find another way of coping with emotional discomfort you will continue to sooth, comfort and distract yourself with food. That doesn’t mean that proper nutrition and consistent exercise aren’t important components of a successful weight loss program, they most certainly are. But until you’ve explored and healed the emotional roots of overeating you will probably continue to cope with emotional discomfort the only way you know how-with food.

What is a TLC Weight Loss Group like? What topics are covered?
TLC Weight Loss Groups are informative, supportive and experiential. The number of participants in each group is between six and ten. Most meetings begin with a check-in as each member shares their victories and their challenges. The facilitator suggests ways of dealing with difficulties, including specific uses of EFT, while applauding accomplishments. Members offer each other advice, support and encouragement. (Strong emphasis is placed upon the importance of confidentiality.)

Then lecture material is presented, and includes the following topics:

· Nutrition
· Exercise
· Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
· Emotional eating
· Mindfulness
· Stress and weight gain
· Stress management
· Sabotaging beliefs
· Effective affirmations
· Body image
· Self esteem
· Continued success

Each group ends with a group hypnosis session for the purpose of:

· Intensifying motivation
· Instilling confidence in the ability to reach weight loss goals
· Installing positive eating and exercise habits
· Resolving and healing the emotional underpinnings of overeating
· Fostering positive self regard
· Accessing the tremendous wisdom of the superconscious or Wise Mind.


What are individual sessions like?
Let me give you the answer most heard by my favorite yoga teacher, Judy Baker:

It depends.

It depends upon the primary issue(s) that each client brings to the table. It depends upon how much knowledge regarding exercise and nutrition he or she already has. It depends upon how much emotional work (therapy, 12 step groups, etc.) has already been completed. It depends upon personal history.
It depends upon future goals.

My approach in these sessions is as unique as the individual before me.

How well does this program work?
Guess what? I have to give you the same answer as I did to the previous question:

It depends.

It depends upon your focus, your motivation, and your sense of commitment. It depends upon your willingness to take personal responsibility. It depends upon your readiness to try another approach, to let go of self-defeating patterns, and to love yourself enough to practice radical self-care.

EFT and hypnosis are not magic buttons. They will not take the effort out of losing weight. But they will take out the struggle. With hypnosis you can end the conflict between conscious desire and subconscious resistance. Through the consistent use of EFT you can neutralize uncomfortable feelings, manage stress, and eliminate the sabotaging beliefs that kept you trapped in old behavioral patterns. Coupled with motivation and commitment you can finally realize your dream of successful, lasting weight loss.
